What is ‘POD’?
It’s no longer necessary to print thousands of copies of a book, with the huge costs and potential waste that could involve.
Print on demand book printing (known as POD) uses the very latest technology, enabling your book to be printed one at a time, or in short runs to fulfil individual orders from you or your readers.
Formats and trim sizes
Using POD, we can print your book in paperback, hardback, mono (B&W) or colour, with a gloss or matt laminated cover.
Our mono books are available on either a white 80 gsm or a creme 75 gsm paper. Our colour books are printed on a 105 gsm white paper. Our most popular trim sizes are:
B – 5.06″ x 7.81″ (198mm x 129mm).
Royal – 6.14″ x 9.21″ (234mm x 156mm).
A4 – 8.27″ x 11.7″ (297mm x 210mm).
Square – 8.5″ x 8.5″ (216mm x 216mm).
Print on demand and the environment
The environmental advantages of POD allow books to be printed to precisely fill demand. It lessens the possibility of returned books, reduces supply chain waste and greenhouse emissions and conserves valuable natural resources. To build upon the environmental responsible forestry, our printers have received the following certifications:
Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®) The FSC® Council is a non-profit organisation, promoting the environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) The Sustainable Forestry Initiative is an independent, internationally recognised non-profit organisation responsible for the SFI certification standard, the world’s largest single forest certification standard.
Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification™ (PEFC™) The PEFC™ Council is an independent , non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999, which promotes sustainability-managed forests through independent third party certification.
