Self-publishing a book

Many authors simply want to have a printed copy of their book to give to their family and friends. Some, however, would like to explore self-publishing a book and make their book and/or eBook available to order in their local bookshop, or from amazon and other online retailers.

Getting started

The first step in self-publishing a book and/or eBook is to purchase and allocate its International Standard Book Number (ISBN). ISBNs are available from Nielsen, or we can provide them.

Once you have your ISBN, the simplest and most popular way to become a self published author is to open an account at Ingram Spark, Amazon’s CreateSpace, or Kindle Direct Publishing for eBooks.

All of these platforms are free to use and will enable your book’s and/or eBook’s retail distribution.

How we can help

However, not all authors have the time to do this and some may not be comfortable with the technical requirements, or complexity of the process of using these online platforms to self-publish their book. That’s where we can help.

We can guide you through the set-up process to become a self-published author on one of these platforms. We can also advise which platform would work best for your book.
